WLUHL11 Newspaper Bottom Feeder Report #1

I was going to send this out on Tuesday morning but the opprotunity has
eluded me until now...

Good day, Sports Fans! Welcome to the first edition of the WLUHL: Bottom
Feeders Report! This rag is in honor of the teams shooting for last place.
There are two categories (we will call them divisions) of teams who will be
reported as "Bottom Feeders". The lowest (or highest, depending on your
personal goals!) Division is the same name as the magazine: Bottom Feeders.
The Second Division is named for teams close to a playoff position and/or
close to becoming a Bottom Feeder: Border Clans.

Added to the standings below is a Str (or Strength of Schedule) number.
Basically, this is a number that totals the Pts of the teams to date that
played against this team in this time period.

By the way, if anyone is offended by this magazine, get a better team!
You can work your way off the list by winning, not whining!

    Let's get to it!

Bottom Feeders:

Pos Abr Team Name GP W L T GF GA Pts PCT Last 10 Str

1 BDG Newfoundland Black Dogs 4 0 4 0 9 16 0 0 0-4-0 14

2 SOV Moscow Soviet Wings 5 0 5 0 7 31 0 0 0-5-0 26

3 RAC Indianapolis Racers 5 0 4 1 8 18 1 0.1 0-4-1 31

4 BAR Milford Barn Burners 4 1 3 0 9 12 2 0.25 1-3-0 20

5 SLA Cape Breton SLaSH 4 1 3 0 12 15 2 0.25 1-3-0 14

No. 1: Newfoundland Black Dogs

Break-down: These Black Dogs had a lighter schedule than any of the other
Bottom Feeders, except for the Slash. However it appears that most of these
games were fairly tight. They lost to the Knights twice who are right at
.500 and lost to the Slash (Bottom Feeder) and Goal Busters (Border Clan).

Prediction: Bottom Feeder next report. Possible Border Clan before too long.

No. 2: Moscow Soviet Wings

Break-down: Ouch. I think we need some defense. With one of the toughest
schedules over the last week, the Soviet Wings were recipients of some tough
times from the Sea Lions, Screech, Pylons and Dragons. Even the Ice Barons
(Border Clan) won a three goal game against the Soviets this time around.

Prediction: Bottom Feeder until there are major changes in defense.

No. 3: Indianapolis Racers

Break-down: The Racers had the toughest schedule in this report. They lost
to the Freeze and Melted Ice, top teams in the league right now. They were
able to tie the Winter Hawks who have lost only one game to date. They did
however lose to the Force and Dragons.

Prediction: Border Clan next report. The Racers really had a tough schedule
and look like they will make it up shortly.

No. 4: Milford Barn Burners

Break-down: The Barn Burners won a grudge match against the Slash. They lost
to the Meatheads, Hitmen and then the up and coming Dogs.

Prediction: Too close to call. They will be in the next report either as a
Bottom Feeder or Border Clan for sure.

No. 5: Cape Breton SLaSH

Break-down: Losing to the Barn Burners can not be fun. They beat the Black
Dogs, but so did everyone else who played them. The other losses were to the
Screech and the Law Makers, decent teams so far.

Prediction: Border Clan next report. They had some tight games with decent
competition. It could get worse soon, however as the competition wasn't too
stiff.

Border Clans:

Place Team Name GP W L T GF GA Pts PCT Last 10 Str

6 Dixie Black Voodoo 4 1 3 0 15 16 2 0.25 1-3-0 16

7 Sierra Spiders 4 1 3 0 6 11 2 0.25 1-3-0 22

8 Birmingham Ice Barons 4 1 3 0 8 11 2 0.25 1-3-0 21

9 Kitchener Terriers 4 1 2 1 12 12 3 0.375 1-2-1 24

10 Hull Goal Busters 5 2 3 0 11 18 4 0.4 2-3-0 20

No.6: Dixie Black Voodoo

Break-down: Just because you are a champ, doesn't mean that hard times won't
follow. They had a decisive victory over the Force, but lost to their
division rivals and fellow Border Clan members, Sierra Spiders. The other
two losses came at the hands of the Pylons and Goal Busters. They did not
have too difficult a schedule but there was a slight upside with the win.

Prediction: Border Clan next report. They could very well pull out for a
playoff spot later in the season, however.

No. 7: Sierra Spiders

Break-down: Spiders win a two point game against the champs but lose twice
to the tough Sea Lions and once to the Crunch. Offense appears to be a
serious issue with this team as all but one of their goals was scored
against the Voodoo.

Prediction: Border Clan next report. Will be a bottom feeder if the scoring
stays the same.

No. 8: Birmingham Ice Barons

Break-down: The Ice Barons had a semi-difficult schedule. They beat the
Soviets but lost to the Edge. Losses to the Meatheads and Winter Hawks are
understandable at this point. Could use some offense.

Prediction: Border Clan next report. Some of the competition was difficult,
but with the current offensive production, you can't win too many games.

No. 9: Kitchener Terriers

Break-down: The Terriers played no teams under .500 at this point. the
competition was not necessarily insurmountable, however. They lost to the
Meatheads and Winter Hawks. They tied and beat the Edge.

Prediction: Good-bye to the Terriers. Do the Terriers belong in this
magazine? Yes, but as one of the teams beating the other teams in this rag.
they won't be here for the next report.

No. 10: Hull Goal Busters

Break-down: The Goalbusters beat the teams in the bottom of the standings
(Black Dogs, Voodoo) and lost to the teams closer to the top (Winter Hawks,
Crunch Meatheads).

Prediction: Off the list. The Goal Busters should be able to beat the teams
here and can win more games from other teams if they shore up the defense.

Who's next: With the Terriers and Goal Busters looking to move off the
Bottom Feeders report, some of the following teams may drop on. Look for one
or more of these teams to join the proud rank and file of the Bottom Feeders
Report soon:

Quabbin Crunch

Quebec Knights

Halifax Force

Reservoir Dogs

St. George Dragons

Gordo Goliaths
